An amazing weekend at Larkhall!!
Written by LM Motorsport
Monday, 16 April 2012 09:01

What a weekend!

The new Birel RY30 S4 is a force to be reckoned with as every driver on it is now running up front.

Junior Blue is being dominated at the moment by the drivers of LMMotorsport with a 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the final on Sunday!

Mark Ross took his first final win in a race which saw the lead change God knows how many times! Tommy Leckie took 2nd and Josh Baird an impressive 3rd place! Best Novice also went to Clay Mitchell!

Great team result - Well done everyone! Keep up the momentum!
Looking forward to the festival this coming weekend and to the O plate at Dunkeswell!

Rocking results at Banff!

What a weekend!!!!

It was a very wet Boyndie Drome in Banff this weekend but the Birel proved yet again that it is the kart to be on as we had some fantastic results throughout the formulas.

Testing went well for all and in Junior Blue, Tommy Leckie was in a league of his own, having the fastest laps in every race, winning all three heats and monstering to the lead in the final! Tommy and his Birel kart were on fire! Very well done and what a driver to have in the team!

Mark Ross was second to Tommy all weekend and was on 2 next to Tommy for the final. After some grea...t racing he finished 3rd with Matt Gilliland just piping him to the flag. A great drive from both, the team gets stronger every race.

Aaron Smith finished in fourth and got a well deserved trophy for his hard work . Possibly his best race and drive yet! Keep it up Aaron!

Clay had a hard weekend and couldn't get to one with the track.

Cammy Brown showed great pace and won 2 out of three heats and was 2nd in the other. He won the final from pole and made it look easy. Well done!

Katie Brown had good solid heats and started 3rd for the final, worked hard and got a well deserved 4th! Great result Katie!

Well done to all the team and let's keep pushing as hard as we have been!
All your hard work is paying off so well done to you all!

Larkhall weekend 17/18th March 2012

What a weekend! The sun was shining and the Birel drivers were impressive! All the drivers drove great this weekend, showing that the 2012 Birel Kart is a force to be reckoned with!

Cadets - Lucas Blakeley drove well all weekend but needs more testing in the dry to find a set up that works. Improving all the time which is great, well done!

Junior Blue - Wow, where to start?! Tommy Leckie won 2 out of 3 heats, 2nd in the 3rd heat, pole for the final and controlled the race all the way to the flag! Pretty much a perfect weekend for him!
Mark Ross is proving himself to be a proper front runner with excellent results through the heats and finishing a well deserved 3rd in the final. Racecraft is improving Mark, keep it up!
Josh Baird had an excellent weekend, drove consistently through the heats and finished 4th in the final. Improving every meet so well done Josh!
Aaron Smith drove superbly all weekend, results in the final did not reflect his steady, consistent driving over the weekend.
Nicky Kearney drove well all weekend, improving all the time so well done.
Other than stopping for a chat with Nicky in the 2nd heat(!!!), Clay had a great weekend, won Best Novice and is starting to mix well with the non-novice drivers. Finished 6th in the final which was a good result.

Senior Blue - Neville Parrott put it on pole after 3 good, consistent heats. led the race for a while until he was passed by Dougie Simpson, finished 3rd though so still a great result!
Nick Morton drove really well, despite being out of the seat for almost a year. Looked good for a top 10 finish but the chain came off in the final which was unlucky! A little bit more testing and Nick will be back up at the top again.

All in all a great weekend was had by all, looking forward to the next round at Banff in a couple of weeks!

ROUND 1 OF NKRA OFF TO A FLYING START!
Written by LM Motorsport

Congratulations to Clay on winning the Best Novice trophy!

Junior Blue: Tommy Leckie drove superbly all weekend, setting the fastest time in every heat. Unfortunately we made a change for the final which cost him the win, still finished second though with Mark Ross right behind him in third place. Not a bad start to the first round but could have been better. Note to self: don't try to fix something thats not broken!

Senior Blue: Neville's weekend started fairly poor but we worked hard together and managed to finish fourth in the final, good result considering the start of the weekend!

Cadets: Lucas Blakely could only manage a Saturday test due to work commitments, but showed real potential in the kart with some excellent lap times recorded - well done Lucas!

A little break now until the Larkhall round on the 16-18th March, anyone wishing to test please get in touch.

What an excellent start to the season for the new 2012 karts!

Junior Blue:
The first round of the WSKC Club Championship saw the 2012 kart win 2 heats and the final in Junior Blue - 1 heat and the final for Tommy Leckie, 1 heat and 3rd in the final for Mark Ross.  Aaron Smith, after being out the seat for almost 4 months, has come back focused on his racing and drove superbly all weekend and finished 5th in the final.  Josh Baird also had an excellent weekend despite not racing for around 4 months too, gaining a respectable 7th in the final.  For being a novice, Nicky Kearney drove well and is showing the potential to be a competitive driver at Larkhall.  He received the Best Novice trophy for his efforts so Well Done Nicky!

Cadets:
Lucas Blakeley had a good weekend's racing but although he had the speed, he didn't get the results he deserved.

Junior Max:
Cameron Brown showed his real potential in the final after some disappointing heats and finished 2nd.

Senior Max:
Katie Brown, on the new 2012 kart, finished 3rd in the final displaying real quality driving and race craft.  Ian Brown, also on the new kart, had a great weekend and finished with a smile!SmileTim Knox, after making the jump from a 2 year old kart to the new 2012 kart, is getting to grips with it and finished 5th.

Formula Blue:
Neville Parrott made his return to Senior Blue in the new kart also.  He had a few teething problems but is focused and determined to get back to where he left off last year!

The weekend also saw the unveiling of the new lorry and awning for LMMotorsport.  Everyone is impressed by the space, equipment and facilities on offer which is great.  Bill and Tommy Leckie even took it upon themselves to act as the new night security staff!Laughing

Next weekend is the first round of the NKRA at the Wigan track, lets hope for some more great results!

DAN-AND-NEV-web

Neville is 16 years old and started professional karting three years ago. His local Club is the West of Scotland Karting Club based at Larkhall, south of Glasgow. He races here at least once per month throughout the year as well as other tracks in Scotland at Golspie, Crail and Banff. The National Competition incorporates tracks in England and Wales. He races in the Junior Blue class of the NKRA (National Kart Racing Association) one of the most competitive racing classes in the UK.

In October 2009 Neville changed race teams  to LMM; a brand new team, managed by an ex-senior British Open winner Lenny Messenger. Combined with unbeatable reliability at LMM, Neville finished in the top three consistently.

The British Open Championship (The 'O' Plate) was a single weekend event held at Wigan at the end of March 2010 - Neville won this prestigious championship which qualified him to race with the "O" on his kart through the summer. He missed a regional race due to a school trip to Belgium in June which resulted in loss of cumulative points in the national championship. This 2010 season for the NKRA has been one of the closest on record. The UK Finals were held in South Wales over the August Bank Holiday weekend and Neville went down to the finals, placed 5th in the UK Championship. This "Finals" weekend consisted of 4 heats and a final race; due to a mechanical technical issue Neville was only able to compete in 3 of the heats which placed him on the grid in 7th place for the final race. He had a fantastic performance and finished over the chequered flag in 3rd place which resulted in an overall performance for the year and put him in 1st place in the UK. Hence he now races with the coveted "No. 1" on his Kart. He was presented with three separate trophies for the achievement over the finals weekend and has a total of more than 30 trophies for national and regional placements.

British Championship Achievements:

  • 2008 - Ranked 15th in UK
  • 2009 - Ranked 9th in UK
  • 2010 - 1) British Open Champion
    2) British NKRA Overall Champion

Daniel is 16 years old and started professional karting three years ago.  His local Club is the West of Scotland Karting Club based at Larkhall, south of Glasgow.  He races  there at least once per month throughout the year as well as other tracks in Scotland at Golspie, Crail and Banff.  The National Competition incorporates tracks in England and Wales.  He races in the Junior Blue class of the NKRA (National Kart Racing Association) one of the most competitive racing classes in the UK.

In October 2009 Daniel changed race teams to LMM; a brand new team, managed by an ex-senior British Open winner Lenny Messenger.  Combined with unbeatable reliability at LMM, Daniel finished in the top three consistently.

At the British Open event which was held at Wigan in March 2010 Daniel finished in 7th  place.  He missed a regional race due to a school trip to Belgium in June which resulted in loss of cumulative points in the national championship and couldn’t drop an unlucky regional round as the single drop round was used for the missed race...  This 2010 season for the NKRA has been one of the closest on record, consequently knocking him from his ranking of 5th in the UK to 16th.  The UK Finals were held in South Wales over the August Bank Holiday weekend and Daniel finished in 5th place in the final race in a final grid of 27.  The finished overall 4th for the weekend and ultimately resulted in Daniel being ranked 8th in the UK.   He was presented with two separate trophies for the achievement over the finals weekend and has a total of more than 20 trophies for national and regional placements.

British Championship Achievements:

  • Ranked 16th in UK
  • Ranked 10th in UK
  • Ranked 8th in UK
